Watch Bade Achhe Lagte Hain: Natasha Weds Karthik
Reviews of Episodes 46 – 49, telecasted on 15 – 18th August 2011.
The main theme of the week episodes was the wedding ceremony of Natasha and Karthik. It’s the morning after the Sangeet & Mehndi ceremony and the evening have been slot in for Priya and Ram’s wedding. Much of the scenes were greatly focus on Priya, as the time drew closer of the marriage so her time to leave the family home. And the Apeksa-plot didn’t get any further because the week episodes last about half the day. And that Apeksa will walk free just three hours from Ram’s wedding. Just in time, a tickling time-bomb?
Though the developments of the week episodes centered on Natasha and Karthik wedding ceremony, it’s wrapped within the parameter of Priya and Ram’s character actions. The scences of the two ran parallel as both, on either side of the bride and groom. If Priya was emotional with the bidaai mood then Ram was emotional about his kid sister leaving the house after the marriage.
The actions taking place this week bring, in particular of Ram’s, reminded of the first episodes of the show. I can’t tell if this were deliberate attempts, but the follow ups to Natasha weddings of Ram’s efforts to have the grandest reception to being ignored of his stature as eldest brother’ duty to her, the Kanyadhan. Not just that the situation was a repeat of what happened at the time of Issika’s wedding, but that Vikram who see his friend had being mistreated all along in his own home. While trying to convince Ram to consider marrying, Vikram said that the family wasn’t his own. And that when he’d marry, he’ll understand what it’s like having something as your own. Evidently, these treatments happening to Ram were noticed by Priya. The love story is developing!
What happening to Ram at his choti’s wedding, were to give glimpse of his situational status among his family to Priya. His stepmom denied him of the privilege of being the eldest in the family, and later as the wedding proceedings ended, Natasha’s quickly resort to leave for her honeymoon. Vikram was amused that Ram could not see these outrageous treatments of his family that they have been using him as source of income; every details related to organizing the wedding was his responsibility and not the acceptance. And we’ve also seen that he fulfilled the responsibilities because of his commitments toward them. He promised to his dying father that he’d take care of the family as his own. So even when Natasha insisted on leaving soon after the wedding proceedings were over, though Ram had questioned if she didn’t care at all staying for his wedding, he chose to ignored the misconduct as against him.
The Monday episode started inside the Sharmas’ home. Priya was searching for a particular beautician contact/card, came across an old book which her father had given to her. She went on reminiscing about the old days with the family, teary eyes. She went to the drawing room and gave her father the phone in which she’d set reminders for important things, like anniversaries and the time to take medicine, with ringing alarm. The family went to a room, had a time of their own reminding themselves of Priya in their daily lives. Starting the day with tea from the hand of Priya, the family depends on her from small to big things, decisions. Literally, the wedding day has arrived and Priya will be leaving the house where she’s spent the last thirty years of her life by the evening. This very mood inside the Sharmas’ home as it began the week episodes ended the week as well.
The wedding was fully covered in the Tuesday and Wednesday’s episodes and the Monday’s bidaai mood was saved for the Thursday’s episode. Shippra came inside the room where Priya was readying herself for the wedding. Both mother-daughter for the first time showed understanding of their emotional oneness: it’s a genuine scene where both took the time to pass the moment, emotionally. Then, Priya in her wedding attire passed through every corner of the house, the kitchen where she’s had cook, and the dining table where the family had eaten, pick up papers from the floor, etc. her daily activities.
Since the last week, the episodes as it started to unfolded for the weddings, lesser records of developments have been meaning writing about the show. Instead of developing the story, the scene by scene appeasements undertake the footsteps of the weddings. And quite become comfort giving scenes of Priya and Ram together, at least once in the week, at different light. The Tuesday’s episode has recorded that complimentary where Ram caught hold of the unaware Priya entering the wedding banquet with roses and water, sprinkling to her. Their eye-to-eye contact, with the title track in the background, was play with flash-backs of the two together in highlighting yellow. But it’s what happened during the wedding ceremony, the next two days episodes which recorded desiring developments of their relationship. That Priya saw what his family members have relate themselves to Ram and acknowledge that the situation was no easy for him. And help see her parents the reason for Natasha leaving with Karthik and then reassured Ram.
Remember, the day of the weddings still continues the next week. And before closing, here are other scenes worth mentioning:
- Nani discussing about their day talk about sending off one daughter and bringing in another. But as the Sharmas retired at the same drawing room after the first wedding later that day, the Nani complained about that their ‘new’ daughter didn’t care entering their home to complete the last rasam.
- While her parents praise Ram’s grand reception which was reported in the news, Priya, negotiating the caterer who insisted increasing the order from 450 to 600 rupees, resolved to see how to adjust from 450 to Lacs rupees.
- Praise for Priya: (a) The Nani appreciated Priya fulfilling the finale rituals for the groom, Karthik. She said that Priya have all the traditional of MP women though growing up away from it. (b) The Dadi was not happy that Natasha left without completing the rasam of a newly married but acknowledged that it’s Priya who intervene to save a bad name for the family.
- Like the promotional ads for their wedding, Ram did worried about which horse would be most capable to carry him and Priya complained about her heavy wedding gown.
- Ram fits into his wedding suit, which surprised Vikram and Neha because they were worried that he won’t fit into it like the first one they’d ordered. Ram told them that the thought of Natasha leaving and the wedding preparations kept him fit.
- Neharika and her brother Raghav were at their best. They utterly couldn’t get to remember the name of the place for the wedding. This extend with Siddharth joining them complaining about the wedding reception.
