Watch Bade Achhe Lagte Hain: The First Date
Reviews of Episodes 33 – 36, 25th – 28th July 2011.
Evidently, Bade Acche Lagte Hain seriously bank on the first date of its protagonists – Priya and Ram – this week. And in-between it dive into introducing additional characters – relatives pouring in for the marriages. When the tarik for marriages had been fixed, the physical works relating for it were mandatory. But to invest them wasn’t the right context for Bade Acche Lagte Hain. Bending side-ways, to comic-timing look too much effort. The families welcome their elderly into their home. The Kapoors’ Dadi came and started celebration in the house. The Nani of the Sharmas brought cheerful moments picking on her own daughter, Shippra.

Before going any further, let us have a look at the first date: it was planned in the Monday’s episode and run till the Wednesday’s episode. Follow the #LiveUpdates:
- While picking up Priya from the coaching centre, Natasha insisted Priya sit with Ram in the car, so she could sit with her fiancé at the back.
- Ram couldn’t take his eyes off Natasha and Karthik, who were sitting at the back. He shouted at them as both were engaging in romantic gestures.
- Natasha expressed her discomfort sitting all four together in the same table and sent Priya and Ram to their table, which she’d booked in the same restaurant.
- Occupying their table, Priya noticing Ram’s anxiety asked why he looked so uncomfortable.
- Their funny conversation: Natasha and Karthik romantic gestures brought up that, whether those who were marrying should behave like them. Both disengaged immediately the discourse and fixed their eyes in the menu.
- Ram went to the TV room where a cricket match was on, and Priya reads a book. Natasha and Karthik went over to Priya’s, asking Ram where-about.
- Ram’s phone rang and Priya went to the TV room to give the phone.
- After the phone called, Ram went back to the table and they ordered food.
- Ram came to dropped both Priya and Karthik. Shippra called Karthik telling him to leave both Priya and Ram alone by playing a trick.
- Karthik went inside leaving Ram and Priya alone in the car. Their first conversation was about Priya asking of the pills in the car.
- Both step off the car. Priya caught up that both had been set-up.
- Then an ample opportunity for Priya to confessed about their marriages – her views on the marriage. That neither of them hadn’t spoken to each other for the last five minutes, and while the question of marrying and sharing life together, knowing about things as ‘those pills’ are necessary.
- Both heartily laugh of those instances.
- Karthik came back and Ram left. Both brother-sister duos went inside.
Apart from the date, the show doesn’t tally further actions. Bade Acche Lagte Hain has been following wedding track, with various ceremony leading to the wedding given enough attention. The Tilak ceremony last week or the very confident sagai event, were devoted as a whole week episodes’ affairs. It’s not surprising that more characters were being introduced. Also, many other background characters as guest arriving for the event had been introduced, giving authenticity. However, accommodating them as much as they had been in this week episodes rather signified a wrong move that the show was being complacent in its development.
It’s the second week, with no drama. And it seems like Bade Acche Lagte Hain had forgotten its core element: drama. The apex of the show relied in the characters’ action with intense drama input which was complacently ignored this whole time. Since the first time reviewing the show with huge drama setting in backdrop of the Sharmas on Ram Kapoor’s marriage proposal, the focus given leading to engagement treated with obscure sub-plots of Natasha-Karthik love relationship threatening and the sudden break-up which lasted the following whole week’ episodes; the drama tagline furnished an advantage the whole time.
We still have a week left until the wedding day. So until then, should we be counting the characters being introduced? Oh, NO!
While every movement in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain reel under/with the weddings event. It’s not unaware of its weak link-ages in this week episodes. Weddings bring in troubles – small or big. In fact the concluding episode this Thursday had shown both the families having to differ in upcoming issues related to their elderly characters. That seems to be the tip of what could happen. But it’s by-standard plus-points of investing to marriage ceremony in a show. So that alone could last a week, wouldn’t it?
Thought a lady phone-calls has been making sound threat to the Kapoors family toward Ram Kapoor marrying, which supposedly promises some background dramas, the larger bullets are inter-woven in itself and ignored. Natasha’s pregnancy or Vikram’s pending MNC job-offer will make a far interesting and invoking bullets/drama than the phone calls.

Hate to break it to you but not many wants to downgrade their IQ by seeing Indian TV series which are obvious ripoffs from Spanish soap operas.
Anyone could love or hate a serial show. To each his own. Bade Achhe Lagte hain is based on a play. And the play is not Spanish. I’ll come back with the name later.
The name of the play it’s based on is Patrani by Imtiaz patel. Thanks again.
